I have been truly blessed to have been able to pursue my life’s passion, wedding photography, and to share in the joy of countless couples, their families and friends for nearly four decades. I initially became interested in photography while serving with the military in Vietnam and later when I was transferred to Berlin, Germany I was fortunate enough to apply for and be accepted for formal training by a classic master portrait photographer. I worked with him for almost two years before returning home where I attended Butler as well as Indiana Universities and studied photojournalism. I purchased a photography studio and photographed my first weddings in 1971.
The technology of photography has changed tremendously during my career with the transition from film to digital, the emergence of custom designed coffee table style albums and more. I enjoy regularly enjoy attending schools, workshops and seminars taught by the top photographic and computer experts in the nation to stay abreast of these exciting innovations. Interestingly, though, the very special event that I have the privilege of attending and documenting has remained much the same over the years, a sacred and beautiful day where a man and a woman vow to spend the rest of their lives together in front of family and friends.
The photographer’s job is to capture, in artistic imagery, all of the essential elements that are already there, emotion, joy, love and family. There is simply no need for the photographer to be obtrusive or to add anything. I like to think that my “style”, a nicely balanced combination of the classic and photojournalistic photographic styles, lends itself to the creation of a “wedding storybook” that truly captures and preserves all of the love, ambiance, magic and joy of a couple’s wedding day in beautiful imagery.
I will readily admit that, when it comes to my wedding photography and wedding album design, I am a bit of a perfectionist. For this reason, though I frequently utilize assistants, I photograph every wedding personally and limit the number of weddings I photograph annually. I have attempted to structure my “wedding photography packages” to fit any budget but if none of them is a “perfect fit”, I can usually custom design one to accommodate a couple’s specific wishes for wedding photography.
Now that you know a bit about me, I would enjoy meeting with you, showing you more of my work and learning about the plans you have for your wedding. I am a full time wedding photographer and can usually accommodate your schedule. I like to meet with clients at a convenient Starbucks, Panera Bread or any place that serves good coffee in a nice quiet atmosphere.
I sincerely appreciate the time that you have taken to visit my website and no matter who you ultimately choose as your wedding photographer, I would like to extend my congratulations and best wishes for your upcoming wedding.
